On this page you can read a short introduction about the
set up of the Thai Child Development
Foundation and how things are organized.
Please click on the menu-button Projects to find more detailed
information on the work of the Thai
Child Development Foundation and some examples
of the support to individual underprivileged children the
Thai Child Development Foundation
offers.
Aim
The Thai Child Development Foundation's
aim is simple:
To support children in their development
to become strong, healthy, happy and
honest individuals.
The work of the Thai Child
Development Foundation can be divided in two
branches: Social and Educational.
Next to that there is a Supporting Roots Program. The Supporting
Roots Program consists of all kinds of projects and initiatives,
on our premises in Thailand as well as abroad, which help
to strengthen the foundation by increasing her independence.
The set up
The Thai Child Development Foundation
is run by a Thai / Dutch staff and international / Thai
volunteers. The Thai Child Development Foundation has a
branch in The Netherlands to support the social support
programs of the Thai Child
Development Foundation financially (the Stichting
Thai Child Development).
Besides that there is a supporting Thai organization on
the premises in Phato (Runs
'N Roses
eco-tourism) which offers practical help (cooking,
transportation, contacts, volunteers, hosting of guests,
etcetera) as well as financial support to cover the overhead-costs
of the foundation.
Next to that our International volunteers (who participate
in the educational projects) pay a participation fee
to cover the costs of
their stay and the costs to organize their educational activities.
Management and board are all on voluntary
level.
Finances
We are proud to mention that due to our set up as described
above, which focuses on self sustainability, donations
to the Thai Child Development Foundation
are used directly for the children in the SOCIAL branch
and NOT USED for overhead-costs nor for the educational
activities
Location
The Thai Child Development Foundation
is active in the countryside in Phato village, Chumpon Province,
in the south of Thailand.
Phato village is surrounded by mountains and rain forest.
The main occupation in the area is fruit, palm, and coffee
farming. The nature in Phato gives a lot and Phato is
not a poor area. Therefor the children under the wing
of the Thai Child Development Foundation
are exceptions. And just because they are not many(there
are only
23 handicapped children in this area for example)
there is little extra support from the government
for them.
Phato village has a good hospital for basic health
care, several primary schools and a secondary school.
The Thai Child Development Foundation
has close bonds with the village leaders, the hospital,
the villagers and the schools.
For people who would like to visit the Thai
Child Development Foundation there are a 4 guests
rooms and 3 beautiful riverside bungalows on the premises
available for visitors. Inquiries and reservations can be
made via Runs
'N Roses eco-tourism.
