The Thai Child Development Foundation offers several projects for volunteers. We have long term projects for people who like to stay for one to three months with us. In 2008 we started with short term projects for a period of two weeks and projects for a period of one week.

On this page you can read a short introduction on the long-term projects and the short term projects. For more information you can read the information sheet you will find with each description.

The World I live in. A project based on English conversation in several schools in the area of Phato. You will work together with the English teachers on English lessons in all grades of the primary school (6 to 12 years old), do a special program set up by the foundation (The World I Live In) and do a social project (decoration in the school, construction, library work etc.). You will stay in the school for three days and on Monday's and Tuesday's you will stay overnight in one of the students, teachers or school homes (home-stay). On Thursdays, Fridays and weekends you will live at the Thai Child Development Foundation location, in Paksong village. We have a volunteer house where 12 people can live.
We can place four volunteers in this project.

Each week we will visit another school.

Construction:
Together with Dindang Natural Building Center, the Thai Child Development Foundation organizes projects on clay house building on the premises of the foundation. You will learn how to build a small house entirely made of clay. The houses will be used for Thai volunteers who will work and live for a long time with the foundation. The work will be done with groups of long-term and short-term volunteers and the staff of Dindang. The work is fun, but physically hard, you will get a great condition working here!
During your stay you will live at the Dindang location, in Paksong village, close to the foundation
We can place three volunteers in this project.

Ecological gardening:
The foundation wants to become self sustainable on growing vegetables, herbs and fruit. To achieve this, we started a vegetable garden and we planted a number of fruit trees on the premises. Volunteers who are interested to join this project, will work - under guidance of a Thai project leader - on daily base in the garden. Preparing, growing plants in a greenhouse, watering, weeding and making compost are a few of the jobs that can be done in the garden. Flowers and plants are part of the garden project too, you can help us to make our place even more beautiful.
During your stay you will live at the Thai Child Development Foundation location, in Paksong village. We have a volunteer house where 12 people can live.
We can place two volunteers in this project.

Horse back riding:
Horses can be a wonderful medium to help children to communicate, to learn them about caring for animals, to give them a sense of responsibility and love for living things. The foundation started a stable with ponies to do a project on horse back riding for local children. If you love horses, like to work with them and show others how to take care and love these beautiful creatures, you can join the horse back riding project. You will work with (riding, training) and take care of the horses. Every Wednesday afternoon and Saturday morning local kids can come and join the pony club, done by the volunteers.
